Kabaka Sewanaku Kigala Mukabya Kasungubu

1434-1464 & 14xx – 1494 Kabaka Sewanaku Kigala Mukabya Kasungubu, Kabaka of Buganda. b. at Busiro, eldest son of Kabaka Tembo Kiride, Kabaka of Buganda, by his wife, Najemba. Succeeded on the death of his father, ca. 1434. Established his capital at Kitala Hill. Abdicated in favour of his son, Kiyimba, ca. 1464. Resumed the throne after his death. He went blind shortly after his accession. reigned under the regency of his Prime Ministers. m. (first) Nabukalu Nabuto, daughter of Natigo, of the Lugave clan. m. (second) Nakawuka, daughter of Senfuma, of the Mamba clan. m. (third) Nakimera (d.s.p.), daughter of Masembe, of the Nsenene clan. m. (fourth) Nakku (d.s.p.), daughter of Walusembe, of the Ffumbe clan. m. (fifth) Nakyobula, daughter of Mbajja, of the Mamba clan. m. (sixth) Nawampamba, daughter of Gunju, of the Butiko clan. He d. in extreme old age, at Manja (bur. there), having had issue, nine sons:

  • 1) Prince (Omulangira) Wasswa. b. at Jinja, Mawu Hill, before his father’s accession (s/o Princess Nazimbanja).
  • 2) Prince (Omulangira) Mawempe. b. before his father’s accession (s/o Princess Nazimbanja).
  • 3) Prince (Omulangira) Semugalwa. b. before his father’s accession (s/o Princess Nazimbanja).
  • 4) Prince (Omulangira) Bubula. b. before his father’s accession (s/o Princess Nazimbanja).
  • 5) Prince (Omulangira) Kagya. b. before his father’s accession (s/o Princess Nazimbanja).
  • 6) Kabaka Kiyimba Ntege, Kabaka of Buganda (s/o Nabukalu Nabuto) – see below.
  • 7) Prince (Omulangira) Gogombe. b. at Bunwa Hill, after his father’s accession (s/o Nakyobula).
  • 8) Prince (Omulangira) Kasameme. b. at Bunwa Hill, after his father’s accession (s/o Nakawuka).
  • 9) Prince (Omulangira) Wampamba. b. at Bunwa Hill, after his father’s accession (s/o Nawampamba). Excluded from the succession for committing incest with his aunt. m. (first) Lady Nakiyama, daughter of his maternal uncle, Gunju, of the Butiko clan, by his wife, Namulondo. m. (second) Lady Nabagereka, aunt and wet nurse to his first wife, sister of Gunju, of the Butiko clan. He had issue, two sons:
    • a) Kabaka Kayima Sendikadiwa, Kabaka of Buganda (s/o Nakiyama) – see below.
    • b) Prince (Omulangira) Kyabayinze (s/o Nabagereka). He had issue, a son:
      • i) Prince (Omulangira) Juma. Contested the succession with his cousin, Kabaka Nakibinge.
